The fish industry, like any other, will be severely impacted by the new F-gas Regulation, and all entrepreneurs and owners of refrigeration plants must be aware of the changes to plan their future activities effectively.

Marco Masini, president of ASERCOM, was invited as the keynote speaker at the AQUAFARM International Show, during the Frigo N Motion event, to deliver a speech on this sensitive topic.

“Existing installations and new installations will bear the burden of the transition,” Marco said. “Existing installations will be increasingly impacted by the rise in traditional refrigerant prices due to quota reductions, while new installations will face additional costs for equipment and safety, depending on their choice.”

The twofold approach of severe quota reductions and the upcoming ban on refrigerants in refrigeration installations is creating significant anxiety throughout the fishery cold chain.

The EU’s focus is on very low GWP (Global Warming Potential) refrigerants, highlighting the urgent need to guide the market towards sustainable practices.
