ASERCOM has published a newly updated version of its guideline “Components for Systems Using Flammable Refrigerants”. The October 2026 edition provides guidance on the requirements and application of components in vapour compression systems using flammable refrigerants within the framework of European RACHP standards.
The revised guideline reflects the latest developments in relevant standards and regulatory requirements. It covers key topics including EN safety standards, risk assessment, requirements for components, ATEX and the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), as well as components used as mitigation measures.
Practical annexes illustrate the application of these requirements using examples including R290 chillers, split and multi-split air-conditioning systems, commercial refrigeration appliances, remote condensing units, rooftop equipment and ventilated enclosures.
The fourth revision of the guideline is available here.
