Energy policy, F-Gas Revision, Reach and PFAS on the agenda for ASERCOM Convention 2022.

When the HVAC&R industry gathers in Brussels or via livestream for the annual ASERCOM Convention on 28 April, Sandrine Dixson-Declève will give a comprehensive overview of climate change and energy policy in her keynote address, bringing facts to the discussion. Dixson-Declève is the most internationally renowned expert on energy and environmental policy and has been Co-President of the Club of Rome since 2018.

With representatives of the EU administration and the experts from industry, the participants can then discuss the concrete measures planned by the EU. And there is certainly a need for discussion: the revision of the F-Gas Regulation has started – the EU wants to present the next steps in the coming weeks.

Reach and PFAS play a major role in the convention: REACH is the European regulation on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. Within this framework, the restriction of the use of PFAS, also known as “Forever Chemicals”, is being discussed. PFAS are a large family of thousands of man-made chemicals that are widely used throughout society (e.g. in textiles, electronics, food contact materials, medical devices, etc.); among other things, these compounds are also used in refrigerants. From the EU perspective, restriction under the chemicals legislation (REACH) is considered the most effective tool to address the risks posed by substances such as PFAS. The ASERCOM Convention will provide different international perspectives on this issue.

Traditionally, ASERCOM’s working groups also present the results of their work over the past year. The event will start at 9.00 a.m. and take place in Brussels.
