Symposium 2010
ASERCOM + EPEE Symposium Preludes Chillventa
A day before the start of this year's Chillventa, the International Trade Fair Refrigeration - Air Conditioning - Heat Pumps, the well established ASERCOM + EPEE Symposium was held on the Nuremberg fair grounds. It had for the second time been jointly organized by ASERCOM + EPEE and was headlined "Sustainability across the cold chain".
As in previous years, the Symposium not only provided a prelude to the Chillventa, but also put its fingers at the pulse of the industry by presenting issues of top relevance.
The first part of the Symposium was dedicated to the question of energy efficiency. Keynote-speakers were reporting on the latest details of the relevant legal framework as well as exploring different scenarios of refrigerant use. Amongst others, the Energy Performance of Buildings (EPBD), the Ecodesign and the Ecolabel Directives found special attention. In addition, technological aspects were considered in the light of the Ecodesign Directive before a life cycle and a sector approach in commerical and transport refrigeraton, respectively, completed the event's first half.
The topic of Energy Efficiency was also of relevance in part two of the Symposium, as well as technological issues, as for instance the increasing importance of compressor capacity modulation. However, the emphasis shifted to standards in connection with a call for reliable data. Against this background, the discussion of appropriate certification schemes formed a particular point of interest.
As had been the case with its predecessors, this year's Symposium found broad resonance and a high number of attendants have shown a very good participation.
