ebm-papst Mulfingen wins EURO 10 000

An international jury (Prof. Clodic, France - Prof. Quack, Germany - Prof. van der Ree, Netherlands) selected unanimously the application of the German company ebm-papst for the award 2008. This company - a well known German manufacturer of fans and associated electric motors introduces now a new range of very efficient axial fans with integrated energy saving motor e.g. for refrigerated supermarket display cabinets and bottle coolers. The energy saving motor is based on the proven external-rotor motor principle, with the rotor turning around the stator within. A new plastic rotor, which has been optimised according to aerodynamic requirements is now used in these fans. Compared to the commonly used shaded pole motors, these energy saving motors are three times as efficient. However, higher efficiencies also mean that less waste heat is given off into the surrounding area. This means that less cooling power must be generated, thus resulting in additional energy savings. Furthermore the new fan range offers positive features such as low noise, long life time, no maintenance, controllability and safety that are essential for practice. In addition to these energy saving fans a new range of HyBladeâ axial fans in EC technology are presented. With HyBlade®, an innovative and unique hybrid structure for fan blades, ebm-papst is redefining the strengths of big axial fans! The combination of an aluminium support structure with a glass fibre reinforced plastic cover employing aerodynamic design features delivers better noise characteristics as well as higher efficiency than traditional blades. The fans are used in refrigeration technology applications such as evaporators and condensers.
